We Are the Robotic Motivations

Bjorn Berglund - telebot (2005)

I am quite the robot these days, as are most people I run into. Yesterday, the study facility was visited by a couple of industrial painters (which is an exciting event when you're in seclusion). With perked ears in the direction of the strange stimulus, I overheard one say to the other, "We're going to die with paintbrushes in our hands if we don't win the lottery". The gracefullness of their experienced vertical motions were suddenly eclipsed by the fact that they were meerly spreading a neutral white on everything in sight... and they'd been doing it for 20 years. If one can already see the electical innerworkings of his own behavior how it plugs into the larger network, how can he continue repetitive robotic labor until he is 55? Isn't this the part of the movie where the robot goes beserk and starts breaking things with unrestrained swings of common household objects?

Here is the Polish response to the subject:

The Polish Ambassador - Robot Motivation (mp3)

"It really sucks ass when your robot learns laziness and starts sleeping in until like 11 A.M. You might be up and at ‘em, ready to go for a walk, but he or she’s just laying there, mouth open, hand on battery pack. Like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey, it’s important to keep your robot motivated for optimum performance. Sure, the robot can still be your friend, but he must learn his place in the pecking order. Insolent sleeping habits will not be tolerated. Insert this mp3 into the robot’s sensory control panel and watch him fly." - The Polish Ambassador

The Robot Ate Me - Bad Feelings (mp3)

Ratatat, our favourite driving companion from last summer, seems to keep their robotic electobeats fresh. The new single from their upcoming Classics release "Wildcat" is full of classically fantastic repetition.

Did you know that the word robot was invented by Karel Čapek? Thanks a lot for the mp3s! They are great!
