It ends with tapping fingers on bongos like tapping fingers on dining room tables or nightstands... tapping "so what now"?

maybe she never had to step away, but won't step any closer. it's a long way between Sweden and the US.
the lyrics online say "I can never be her in your society" but i wonder if she's actually saying "I can never be heard in your society"
i love your thoughts. 'her' and 'heard' have a long and complicated relationship.
